Studio Dragon published an English version of its sustainability report on the 26th, containing details and achievements of major ESG activities in 2023.

Studio Dragon reported on the 26th, “After publishing the first Sustainability Report in the domestic drama production industry last year, Studio Dragon published its second report this year. It contains progress in advancing sustainability management, such as expanding the scope of ESG business and disclosure standards.”

This Sustainability Report includes major ESG issues concerning drama studios, such as promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) through content, respect for human rights and diversity, safety management in the production environment, compliance with media and content regulations, and enhancement of legal and ethical management.

First of all, efforts to spread Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) through content were introduced. For example, an analysis of the lead characters in dramas produced by Studio Dragon in 2023 revealed that 51.7% of the works featured a female lead or co-star, such as “Castaway Diva” and “Delightfully Deceitful.” Also, as of the end of December 2023, 58.8% of the production personnel were female creators, securing gender diversity in the content production process.

In addition, a number of programs for partners were introduced. Regular training sessions for partners’ safety management plans, the Grievance reporting system to gather feedback from partners, and the Safety and Health Council for a safe production environment were presented.

Furthermore, this report embodies greenhouse gas reduction strategies and goals for a proactive response to climate change. Studio Dragon obtained the internationally recognized ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Certification in June 2023, and also set short-to-medium-term targets for achieving Net-Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Sung Ho Jang, who is leading Studio Dragon’s ESG management, said, “This report centered on differentiating ‘OnlyOne,’ CJ Group’s core value, with videos highlighting sustainability issues to enhance the understanding and delivery of its Sustainability Report, and focused on advancing sustainability management through more than 20 new sustainability activities, such as greenhouse gas emissions reductions, local community collaborations, and Board evaluations. As a leading K-drama company, we will continue to actively communicate our vision, achievements, and plans for sustainable management.”

This report was prepared according to global reporting standards, such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards 2021, as well as the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) Recommendations, UN Global Compact (UNGC) Ten Principles, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), and European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). In addition, it has completed third-party verification from the global verification and certification body, DNV KOREA.
